Wow – our Valentine’s day mini boudoir shoot of January 8 was a blast! With only a couple super minor snags here and there (delayed train schedules etc), the day ran really, really smoothly, and given that we had a full schedule, every woman who participated was absolutely amazing, which kept my energy level high all day long!
Truth be told, mini boudoir shoots can be a bit challenging. It’s non-stop for me from about 8am til about 6:30pm (no breaks). And my makeup artist extraordinaire is right beside me for most of it as well.
Clients have to arrive on time, get makeup done, and then it’s lights, camera, action for 45 minutes straight. Might sound like a lot of time, but trust me, it is over in a flutter of a heartbeat.
Although my mini shoots are designed for women who just want to dip their toe into the boudoir experience, or who are just looking for a handful of prints, half of the women who participated in the Valentine’s Day mini shoot were so happy with their images they upgraded to albums…which was a big lesson for me! Leave more time between holidays and mini shoots themed around them! Agh! I’ve been editing nonstop ever since but here are two peeks from that day (posted with permission from my beautiful clients).
Part of the challenge with Valentine’s day is that many women don’t think about it til the last minute. Happens every year. In fact, as of yesterday I’m still getting inquiries for Vday. I hate to say I can’t be of help, but at this point, as much as I’d love to, I really can’t
Problem is, no matter how much I mention this lovely holiday in November and December most of us are preoccupied with those other little holidays you might have heard about: you know, Chanukah, Christmas, and New Years? Can’t say I really blame anyone.
In any case, we had so much fun with our boudoir marathon day we’re doing it again March 19th!
Usually I forward four set concepts/arrangements to those participating…but this time I’ll be MAKING a ton of stuff! I’m a somewhat crafty gal, so I’ve gathered lots of fun ideas for this one! Themes are: Bridal and Springtime.
I’ll be incorporating some of my favorite feminine fun things like bunches of fresh flowers, loads of flowing tulle and sheer fabrics, and making some unique wardrobe pieces out of lace and other fun fabrics. SOOOOO instead of posting the specific sets, I’ve pulled together an inspiration board full of pics that will be driving the sets, accessories, and props for this shoot. It’s going to be amazing, lots of fun, and quite the creative endeavor!
I’ve already begun booking for the 3/19 mini boudoir shoot since I gave a little hint at the new date on my LIBoudoirPhotography FB page, so if you’re considering it, don’t wait too long to call. There are only 5 spaces left and all that’s required is a 250 retainer fee to hold your spot.
It may be snowing out AGAIN, but believe you me, springtime is right around the corner!!!
Following is my inspiration board for the 3/19 mini boudoir shoot day – may it inspire you too!
Have a fabulous day!
